How an excavating job runs

Same order every time, whether it is a half-day dig or a week of site work. It keeps surprises off your invoice.

  1. Walk the site with you

    We look at grade, soil, access, and where water enters and leaves. You get an honest read on what the dirt actually needs before any number gets quoted.

  2. Plan the cut and the fill

    We work out what comes out, what gets brought in, and where spoil goes, so the job does not stall halfway through waiting on material.

  3. Locate before we dig

    Utilities get located and marked. Digging blind is how you hit a gas line or a water main, and neither is worth the time saved.

  4. Dig, shape, and compact

    We cut to grade, build fill back in lifts, and compact as we go so the ground under your project stays where we put it.

  5. Set the drainage

    Ditches, culverts, and drain lines go in as part of the grade rather than as an afterthought once problems show up.

  6. Clean up and final grade

    Debris hauled off, site left workable, and the final grade shaped so the next trade can start without redoing our work.

Staying ahead of it

Dirt work you maintain is dirt work you only pay for once

Grade and drainage do not fail all at once. A ditch silts in, a culvert partly blocks, a low spot holds a little longer each storm. Caught early, most of it is an hour with a machine. Left alone, it turns into a rebuild.

Water is patient. It will keep working on the same weak point until something gives, and the thing that gives is usually a driveway, a foundation, or a retaining wall. Every one of those costs more than the maintenance would have.

  • The slope is close and needs reshaping, not rebuilding
  • Surface material has thinned but the subgrade is intact
Rebuild or major rework when
  • The area was never properly prepped to begin with
  • Subgrade is soft, saturated, or full of organic material
  • Water has been cutting through the same spot for years
  • There is no drainage outlet anywhere to work with
  • The ground sinks again every time it rains

Always. Utilities get located and marked before we break ground. Digging without locates is how you hit a gas line or a water main, and no amount of saved time is worth that.

Do you haul away the dirt and debris?

Yes. We can haul off spoil, stumps, brush, and old material, or spread and shape usable fill somewhere else on the property if that saves you money.

Can you work on steep or hard-to-reach lots?

Usually. Slope and tight access are normal here. Tell us what the approach looks like and we will let you know what equipment fits and whether we need to cut an access path first.

How long does a typical job take?

A small dig or trench might be a day. Pad prep, driveways, and larger grading jobs run longer, and weather moves the schedule since saturated ground does not compact. We give you a realistic window before we start.
